Accredited CSO
The UNCCD COP recognizes that the involvement and participation of the civil society is vital to the successful implementation of this Convention. It therefore welcomes the contribution of CSOs, with particular regard to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), to the official meetings of the UNCCD.
Representatives from CSOs that are accredited to the COP may directly participate in the UNCCD secretariat’s sessions. At these sessions CSOs are consulted on United Nation’s policy and programme matters. They also play key roles at major United Nations conferences as indispensable partners for efforts at the country level. Below are the current accredited CSO's to the Convention.
“Hiking with Knowledge” is a non-profit organization in Mongolia promoting environmental education, sustainable land use, and youth engagement. Through free, themed hiking trips and field programs, we raise awareness on biodiversity, conservation, and pollution while fostering experiential learning, community collaboration, and sustainable practices aligned with UNCCD priorities.
PNJBE mobilizes youth for sustainable water governance, climate adaptation. Key activities include establishing school-based Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) cells, rural community advocacy sessions and reforestation campaigns. Through national campaigns and international forums, PNJBE advocates for resilient WASH policies, in Burkina Faso, with a strong focus on youth leadership.
The Organización Indígena Kankuama (OIK) defends the rights of the Kankuamo People and safeguards our ancestral territory in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. Rooted in our Law of Origin, we protect the elements that sustain life. We address desertification as both land degradation and a disruption of ecological and spiritual balance, working to restore soils, water systems, and biodiversity, and to strengthen our communities' resilience across our territory.
Vision in Action Cameroon (VIAC) works at the intersection of environmental sustainability, health, and social inclusion in climate‑affected communities. Our activities include community‑based SRHR outreach and mobile services, GBV prevention and response in resource‑poor settings, youth‑led livelihood and skills initiatives, menstrual health programs in low‑income communities, and data‑driven advocacy to strengthen resilience, inclusive participation, and local responses to climate change
Climate KIC catalyses and orchestrates systemic transformative innovation through themes like Sustainable Land Use, Urban Transitions, Systems Innovation, and Resilience—directly tackling climate change land degradation, soil health, regenerative agriculture, and drought resilience. We bridge climate ambition and reality via place-based transformation, multi-stakeholder collaboration, entrepreneurship, and scalable nature-positive solutions across Europe and beyond.
Our organization works to protect Mongolia’s environment by addressing desertification, land degradation, and pollution of air, water, and soil. We raise awareness, promote accurate environmental information, and advocate for action at pollution sources while supporting sustainable land use and community-based solutions.
MONFEMNET National Network is a CSO network in Mongolia advancing gender equality, human rights, and sustainable development. It works with herder and rural communities to strengthen women’s resilience, promote care economy approaches, and advocate for gender-responsive policies on land use, climate adaptation, and sustainable livelihoods aligned with UNCCD priorities.
CBAS serves as the UNCCD Regional Support Hub for Asia, covering three sub-regions: North East, South and South East Asia. It advances UNCCD implementation through tailored capacity-building, technical assistance, knowledge sharing and multi-stakeholder coordination, supporting countries to combat desertification/land degradation, achieve LDN targets, address drought risks and strengthen regional cooperation on sustainable land management.
Founded post-Rio-92, Rede Cerrado is an interethnic platform dedicated to defending the biome and the collective rights of its peoples, such as Indigenous and Quilombola communities. Representing 22 traditional segments, it connects local realities to global advocacy. Aligned with the UNCCD, it promotes water security and territorial governance to combat degradation and deforestation through sustainable systems and the defense of land rights.
The University of Alberta administers many projects that help address the global challenges, including water security, water sustainability and drought. Our Mongolian applicants investigate grassland degradation, food systems and pastoral livelihoods in Mongolia amidst mining and climate change. Combining local knowledge, western scientific data and gender-sensitive approaches, the projects track how unfair policies, climate change and green colonialism intersect across the steppes.
