Accredited CSO
The UNCCD COP recognizes that the involvement and participation of the civil society is vital to the successful implementation of this Convention. It therefore welcomes the contribution of CSOs, with particular regard to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), to the official meetings of the UNCCD.
Representatives from CSOs that are accredited to the COP may directly participate in the UNCCD secretariat’s sessions. At these sessions CSOs are consulted on United Nation’s policy and programme matters. They also play key roles at major United Nations conferences as indispensable partners for efforts at the country level. Below are the current accredited CSO's to the Convention.
Emam for Culture and Development is a youth-led NGO empowering communities through education, advocacy, and tech-driven solutions. We champion gender-inclusive approaches and promote policies for sustainable land use and climate resilience. By building local capacity to combat desertification and drought, we support long-term adaptation and land restoration aligned with UNCCD goals.
CAFS empowers Nigerian farmers and youth to combat desertification via climate-smart agriculture, seed diversity preservation, and policy advocacy. Programs include resilience training, agroecology promotion, and partnerships for sustainable land management. Active in 15 states, CAFS aligns with UNCCD goals to restore ecosystems and reduce land degradation.
Arab Youth Sustainable Development Network (AYSDN) empowers youth across the Arab region to address desertification, land degradation, and climate change. Its activities include land restoration projects, environmental education, policy advocacy, and capacity-building programs focused on sustainable land management and resilience in dryland areas.
Vijoriya Foundation promotes grassroots advocacy on land restoration, sustainable land use, and climate resilience. Through its 'Go Green for Land Restoration' campaign, it mobilizes youth, women, and rural communities via awareness drives, storytelling, and policy dialogue, aligning with UNCCD goals and the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration.
Kadosh Initiative for Justice and Environmental Development (KIJED) promotes sustainable land use, climate resilience, and environmental justice in Nigeria. Through community-led conservation, gender-responsive REDD+ integration, and youth empowerment, KIJED addresses land degradation, supports biodiversity, and advocates for policies aligned with the UNCCD’s mission to combat desertification and ensure ecological balance.
Africa Reconciled promeut la paix et la résilience communautaire en intégrant la gestion durable des terres dans ses actions de gouvernance locale. En luttant contre la dégradation des terres, elle renforce la sécurité humaine et environnementale, réduit les conflits liés aux ressources et soutient des solutions durables face aux effets de la désertification et du changement climatique.
FAPROS works on land restoration with women and girls in the rural areas by accompanying them on swamps crops farming for their economic empowerment. FAPROS is actually planning to reforest the coasts of rivers that destroy quarters during during the rainy season.
PELUM Eswatini promotes sustainable land management, agroecology, and biodiversity conservation to combat land degradation and enhance food sovereignty. Through capacity building, research, policy advocacy, and community-led projects and innovations, we empower smallholder farmers and marginalized communities to restore ecosystems and build climate resilience in alignment with the SDGs, CAADP, UNCCD, and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
GIERI asbl, our organization promote sustainable land management, reforestation,agroecology,and climate resilience in all country DRCongo.it supports local community in restoring degraded lands,improving soil fertility,and reducing deforestation.GIERI also engages in awareness campaigns and local policy advocacy to align community action with UNCCD goals,including Land Degradation Neutrality(LDN).
Conservation Arts is a grassroots organization based in Malawi working at the intersection of climate adaptation, food security, forestry, and sustainable land management. We use creative, community-driven approaches to restore degraded landscapes, promote agroecology, support reforestation, and empower youth and marginalized groups through environmental education, green livelihoods, and policy advocacy.
