Accredited CSO
The UNCCD COP recognizes that the involvement and participation of the civil society is vital to the successful implementation of this Convention. It therefore welcomes the contribution of CSOs, with particular regard to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), to the official meetings of the UNCCD.
Representatives from CSOs that are accredited to the COP may directly participate in the UNCCD secretariat’s sessions. At these sessions CSOs are consulted on United Nation’s policy and programme matters. They also play key roles at major United Nations conferences as indispensable partners for efforts at the country level. Below are the current accredited CSO's to the Convention.
CeWaFS-Ghana empowers women and smallholder farmers through climate-smart agriculture, land restoration, and sustainable livelihoods. We promote gender-equitable forest governance, conserve ecosystems, and integrate circular economy models. Our activities support land degradation neutrality, amplify Indigenous voices, and align with UNCCD goals on desertification, drought resilience, and community-led restoration.
People’s Participation is a rights-based NGO in India working to combat land degradation through community-led afforestation, soil and water conservation, awareness on sustainable farming, and empowerment of marginalized groups. It promotes environmental justice, climate resilience, and active civil society engagement aligned with the goals of the UNCCD.

Save Environment Initiative (SEI) is a youth-led NGO promoting sustainable land management, reforestation, soil conservation, and climate resilience. Through community engagement, education, and ecosystem restoration, SEI supports efforts to combat desertification, land degradation, and drought, in line with UNCCD goals. Activities include native tree planting, awareness campaigns, and collaboration with local and international partners.
The Conservation Development Foundation Nepal (CODEFUND) promotes sustainable wetland and lake governance (e.g., Integrated Lake Basin Management), ecosystem resilience, biodiversity conservation, climate adaptation, and community-led natural resource management. Through technical support, advocacy, knowledge dissemination, capacity building, rural municipal demonstration projects, and green microenterprise development, it fosters socio-ecological governance in mountain environments.
Mother Trees restores degraded lands through regenerative agroforestry, seed banking, and community-led tree planting. We empower smallholder farmers, especially women, to reverse desertification, improve soil health, and build resilient livelihoods. Our programs align with the Great Green Wall, enhance carbon stocks, and promote sustainable land management across Africa and beyond.
AJAM promeut la sécurité alimentaire et l'économie locale grâce à l'agriculture sylvopastorale innovante. Elle lutte contre le changement climatique et la désertification en intégrant des pratiques respectueuses de la biodiversité, la gestion durable des sols et la restauration des terres dégradées, tout en soutenant l'insertion socio-professionnelle des jeunes agriculteurs par la formation et le plaidoyer..
L'association ATED œuvre pour la préservation des écosystèmes de montagne, la lutte contre la dégradation des terres et le renforcement de la résilience climatique. Elle a réalisé des projets de reboisement à Talassemtane et Bouhachem, et promeut la gestion durable, l’agroécologie et la participation communautaire. ATED est accréditée auprès du PNUE et de la CCNUCC
Our thematic focus areas include forestry, Adaptation & Vulnerability, Agriculture & Pastoralism. Our activities include: Practicing permaculture to improve soil fertility, planting trees in forest reserves i.e planting 25,000 trees in Dzalanyama forest reserve, and practicing agriculture honey production through distribution of 210 beehives and goat pass-on projects through distribution of 300 goats to women in Malawi.
ADEACH promotes sustainable land management, soil degradation prevention, and climate adaptation through agroecology and farmer training. It supports food security, water and sanitation, forestry conservation, and resilience for vulnerable farming and pastoralist communities. ADEACH integrates public health, science, and technology to mitigate land degradation impacts on livelihoods and ecosystems.
