The Water Security and Climate Change conference (WSCC) is an annual event where scientists, policy makers and stakeholders from various sectors discuss the diverse facets of water security and its relation to climate variability and change. The WSCC strives to go beyond science and build bridges between various disciplines and sectors as well as different groups of stakeholders. Serving as a platform for discussions about water and food secure societies, by providing a stimulating environment with the intention of yielding innovative ideas and grounds for implementation, the WSCC is continuing a series of successful conferences in Thailand, Germany, Kenya and Mexico. The WSCC is an initiative of the ‘Higher Education Excellence in Development Cooperation – exceed’ program, and has been implemented since 2016 under the auspices of the Centers for Natural Resources and Development (CNRD) and the Sustainable Water Management in Developing Countries (SWINDON) network. The scientific committee includes the Food Security Center (FSC) as well as the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT). In 2021, WSCC is convened by the Vietnam Academy for Water Resources (VAWR) in Hanoi. Due to the currently uncertain situation, we have decided to implement the Water Security and Climate Change (WSCC) conference in a virtual format. Participation will be free of charge and open to the public. The registration will open end of November 2020; more information will soon be available.

The ambition of the 2021 UN Food Systems Summit is to launch a collective journey of transforming our food systems to give us the best possible chance of delivering on the 2030 Agenda. Everyone has a role to play in this. Only by coming together and challenging one another we can spark new ideas and create meaningful impact. Action Track 3 (AT3) focuses on boosting nature-positive production systems at scale to globally meet the fundamental human right to healthy and nutritious food while operating within planetary boundaries. As we move forward with developing game-changing solutions we will be looking at the importance of integrating agendas, namely achieving food security, reversing nature loss and limiting climate change. We will dive deep into a few selected topics which have been frequently mentioned in the first few months of stakeholder engagement. These will include: Improving incentives and subsidies The differing need of food on land and food in the water Ways to engage with the AT and help shape game-changing solutions Speakers will include AT3 leadership, as well as senior executives from WWF, UNCCD and other organisations. The organizers have announced the new dates, and keep fans happy while they wait, put together a festival playlist.  The Festival marks its fifth year amidst many events in Beethoven's hometown, marking the 250th anniversary of the great composer whose musical genius made him a true global citizen, humanist and visionary. This year's festival will present a series of concerts, featuring musical cross-border commuters from Senegalese percussionist and Burkinabe hip-hop singer to a famous Sephardic music star, with Brazilian Kizomba, Dutch blues/soul, Chile/Peruvian Cumbia and Congolese Funk in between. Today, a commitment to integration, better understanding among nations and combating intolerance are more relevant than ever. The idea that many people who grow up in different cultures and move between countries can feel at home in each one is still far from being universally accepted. The city of Bonn that hosts many international, non-governmental and development organizations provides an ideal venue for the global music event that promotes cultural diversity.
