Water plays a pivotal role in global efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to build resilience safeguarding ecosystems and communities. World Water Week 2025 will focus on addressing the linked emergencies of climate change, environment degradation and biodiversity loss, emphasizing both mitigation and adaptation, alongside the broader goal of enhancing resilience. Join us on 28 August for the side event :Accelerating Drought Resilience in a Changing Climate" from 14:00 to 15:30 at A4 Level 6 session ID 12304. Organized by The Nature Conservancy, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ) and the UNCCD.
This session will explore the building blocks to accelerating drought resilience, including policy, funding, tools and technology, building awareness on the need to adopt bottom-up approaches in drought risk mitigation. Presenters will share outcomes of the UNCCD COP16 and opportunities for engagement between now and UNCCD COP17 in Mongolia in 2026.
