Accredited CSO
The UNCCD COP recognizes that the involvement and participation of the civil society is vital to the successful implementation of this Convention. It therefore welcomes the contribution of CSOs, with particular regard to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), to the official meetings of the UNCCD.
Representatives from CSOs that are accredited to the COP may directly participate in the UNCCD secretariat’s sessions. At these sessions CSOs are consulted on United Nation’s policy and programme matters. They also play key roles at major United Nations conferences as indispensable partners for efforts at the country level. Below are the current accredited CSO's to the Convention.
Beijing Fuqun Social Service Center is an NGO driving community-based conservation and sustainable development, with a core focus on combating desertification. By fostering participatory learning and co-management, we empower locals to fight land degradation and restore ecosystems, aiming for human-nature harmony. Operating in Qinghai, Beijing, Sichuan, and Yunnan, our work centers on desertification control, national park co-management, eco-industries, green education, and climate adaptation.
WHH promotes sustainable agriculture in more than 37 countries, incl. conservation agriculture and agroecology. We work globally on soil and land restoration and protection efforts, incl. targeted soil health programming. Moreover , we are a member of the coalition of action for soil health, integrate land rights, land health, and markets to transform food systems and build resilience against climate change, biodiversity loss, food insecurity and malnutrition, and water scarcity.

Within the University of Bristol, the Cabot Institute for the Environment represents and supports a community of 600 academics who work on Interdisciplinary Environmental Research. Together, we deliver the evidence base and solutions to tackle the challenges of food security, water, low carbon energy, city futures, environmental change, and natural hazards and disaster risk.
The ICCA Consortium supports Indigenous Peoples and local communities in governing and sustaining their territories of life. Its work is relevant to the UNCCD through community-led land stewardship, pastoralism, customary governance, restoration, biodiversity conservation, and strengthening rights, knowledge systems, and resilience to land degradation and drought.
Herder and indigenous women—despite carrying equal responsibilities in livestock herding and agricultural production—remain underrecognized and undervalued in both economic and social terms. A key objective of our organization’s 2030 Strategic Plan is to contribute meaningfully to addressing inequalities in land tenure and ownership, while also promoting the recognition and valuation of women’s contributions to climate change adaptation.
GOSS is a professional body specializing in GHG inventory management and sustainable development, committed to the UNCCD’s objectives. We serve as a critical bridge, leveraging international standards and science-based methodologies to mitigate the environmental impacts of Mongolia’s private and industrial sectors while aligning their operations with global sustainability goals through climate impact mitigation, sustainable land management, and resource efficiency.
The organization supports rural development and promotes participatory environmental protection, ecosystem restoration, and sustainable land management. Since 2010, it has submitted UPR reports, receiving 15 recommendations in 2025 on land and water rights, herders’ rights, and air pollution. Since 2016, it has conducted public interest litigation to protect communities affected by illegal water use, violations in protected areas, and land degradation and desertification.
Support and participate in national and international projects on environmental monitoring and protection; conduct public environmental monitoring to identify issues and legal gaps, promoting sustainable use of natural resources; encourage meaningful public participation in environmental decision-making; organize education and training for youth and specialists through cooperation and knowledge exchange; and contribute to the development and implementation of scientific manuals and guidelines.
Agaariin Kharuul (Breathe Mongolia) works to transform policies and narratives, connect and build the capacity of local communities, and advance collaborative solutions to protect land and climate, clean our air, and champion environmental justice. A key component of this is serving as the facilitator for the ‘Mongolian Civil Society Joint Advocacy Network’, a coordination mechanism of local civil society organizations working on land issues to meaningfully participate in the UNCCD processes.
