Accredited CSO
The UNCCD COP recognizes that the involvement and participation of the civil society is vital to the successful implementation of this Convention. It therefore welcomes the contribution of CSOs, with particular regard to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), to the official meetings of the UNCCD.
Representatives from CSOs that are accredited to the COP may directly participate in the UNCCD secretariat’s sessions. At these sessions CSOs are consulted on United Nation’s policy and programme matters. They also play key roles at major United Nations conferences as indispensable partners for efforts at the country level. Below are the current accredited CSO's to the Convention.

Wildlife Science and Conservation Center is a national NGO committed to conserving wildlife and critical habitats through science-based research, field action, and community engagement. With extensive experience working across Mongolia’s diverse ecosystems, it promotes sustainable land use, biodiversity conservation, climate mitigation, protected area management, and human–wildlife coexistence, contributing to resilient landscapes, water security, and livelihoods in line with UNCCD objectives.
AWF restores degraded lands across eight states of India through community-led afforestation, soil conservation, and water body creation. Jharkhand, with 68.78% of its area undergoing land degradation, is India's most desertification-affected state. Working with indigenous communities, AWF integrates land rehabilitation with sustainable livelihoods, reducing erosion, improving water tables, and reversing land degradation through nature-based solutions, aligned with India's LDN targets.
Center for Policy Research is a non-partisan NGO dedicated to sustainable rural development and landscape resilience in Mongolia. Our core aims include promoting sustainable pastureland and forest management, enhancing biodiversity conservation, and fostering climate-resilient livestock. We currently lead the 2025-2026 UNCCD national reporting process for Mongolia, facilitating multi-stakeholder participation to monitor land degradation (SDG 15.3.1), drought resilience, and carbon sequestration.
WATED works at the intersection of gender, climate justice, and land governance, focusing on women’s rights, sustainable livelihoods, and community resilience. The organization advances advocacy on land rights, climate adaptation, and environmental justice, supports grassroots women’s leadership, and engages in policy processes related to desertification, biodiversity, and sustainable land management.
For over 40 years, AVSF has provided smallholder communities and organisations with technical advice, training and financial support, while promoting the traditional knowledge of smallholder farmers.Our goal is to defend their rights, improve their living conditions, contribute to the socio-economic development of their territories and protect the planet’s resources.
We seek to understand and address the drivers and consequences of land degradation, providing evidence to support local communities, policymakers, and practitioners in adopting sustainable land management practices. Through global field research, modelling, capacity building, and policy engagement, we generate insights on governance, food security, adaptation, land use change, and the economic and sociocultural value of land to inform decision-making at local, national, and international levels.
Established in 2022, the Villars Institute is a nonprofit foundation dedicated to accelerating the transition to a net-zero and nature-positive economy and to restoring the health of the planet. Located in the heart of the Swiss Alps, the Villars Institute serves as a platform for systemic change and a hub for intergenerational collaboration. It also curates artistic, cultural, and educational activities that promote systems leadership, planetary health, and ecopreneurship.
The Mongolian Red Cross Society strengthens resilience to drought, dzud, and climate-related hazards through climate adaptation, anticipatory action, early warning, risk assessments, and livelihood support. Working with the government and partners, MRCS supports herder households and vulnerable communities with preparedness, climate-smart programming, and locally led action to protect lives and livelihoods.
Environmental education, land restoration, and youth capacity building to combat desertification and land degradation. TGP promotes sustainable land management through school programmes, community outreach, tree planting, and ecosystem restoration. It strengthens youth engagement in environmental governance and contributes to UNCCD processes, linking local action with global frameworks to enhance resilience to drought and land degradation.
