Accredited CSO
The UNCCD COP recognizes that the involvement and participation of the civil society is vital to the successful implementation of this Convention. It therefore welcomes the contribution of CSOs, with particular regard to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), to the official meetings of the UNCCD.
Representatives from CSOs that are accredited to the COP may directly participate in the UNCCD secretariat’s sessions. At these sessions CSOs are consulted on United Nation’s policy and programme matters. They also play key roles at major United Nations conferences as indispensable partners for efforts at the country level. Below are the current accredited CSO's to the Convention.

Creats International works to empower rural communities through sustainable agriculture, climate action, and livelihood development. Our focus is on combating land degradation, promoting climate-smart farming, and enhancing food security. We engage communities in restoration initiatives, women and youth empowerment, capacity building, and partnerships that strengthen resilience to desertification, drought, and climate change.
Environmental Conservation Community of Tanzania (ECCT) is a non-profit NGO dedicated to empowering local communities in Tanzania to restore and conserve ecosystems through advocacy, capacity building, education, and field projects. ECCT works on mangrove and coastal restoration, plastic pollution prevention, climate change adaptation, youth engagement, and sustainable livelihood initiatives.
ILRT works on sustainable livelihoods, natural resource management, and climate resilience. Key themes include combating land degradation, promoting sustainable agriculture, water conservation, and community-based resource governance. Activities focus on research, capacity building, knowledge sharing, and field-level interventions aligned with the UNCCD goals of land restoration and achieving land degradation neutrality.
CHIMABA Initiatives promotes health, education, and socio-economic empowerment while integrating environmental sustainability and climate resilience. By advancing clean energy, sustainable land practices, and community advocacy, we support UNCCD goals on land restoration, drought resilience, and sustainable development for vulnerable rural communities in Tanzania.
Mount Kenya Trust works to conserve Mt. Kenya’s forests, water, and wildlife while empowering surrounding communities. Since 1999, we have restored over 2,000 ha, planted over 2.5 million trees, & manage the 14 km Elephant Corridor to reduce conflict. Our rangers protect biodiversity from logging, poaching, wildfires & snares. Our health, education, and livelihood programs ensure conservation benefits reach over 50,000 people annually.
CODAPA œuvre depuis 1993 pour la restauration des terres dégradées et la résilience climatique en Guinée. Nos actions: reboisement (1,7M arbres plantés, 3000ha restaurés), promotion de l'agriculture durable (agroforesterie, conservation des sols), formation de 15000+ agriculteurs aux techniques résilientes, aménagement de 500ha de plaines, autonomisation de 88 groupements féminins maraîchers. Nous renforçons les capacités locales pour lutter contre la désertification et la pauvreté rurale.
WEF Foundation promotes sustainable land, water, energy, and food systems by supporting local organizations and communities. Our activities include land restoration, agroforestry, soil and water management, and livelihood diversification (e.g., cooperatives and pisciculture). We build local capacity, empower women and youth, and link grassroots initiatives to global efforts to combat desertification and land degradation.
Alternare is a nonprofit organization, led by rural communities and an interdisciplinary team, that designs and implements a Comprehensive Sustainable Development Model to promote land restoration and the sustainable management of forests, soils, and water in rural areas.
