Accredited CSO
The UNCCD COP recognizes that the involvement and participation of the civil society is vital to the successful implementation of this Convention. It therefore welcomes the contribution of CSOs, with particular regard to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), to the official meetings of the UNCCD.
Representatives from CSOs that are accredited to the COP may directly participate in the UNCCD secretariat’s sessions. At these sessions CSOs are consulted on United Nation’s policy and programme matters. They also play key roles at major United Nations conferences as indispensable partners for efforts at the country level. Below are the current accredited CSO's to the Convention.
The NGO “Centre Technique de la Forêt Communale” (CTFC) is a non-profit, non-partisan whose main objective is to promote the protection of the environment for development sustainable economic an social progress in the interest of all and Carrying out studies related to forestry issues (impact studies, development plan, development inventory, socio-economic studies, etc.)
1. To combat and reduce severity of Land degradation through agroecological practices. 2. Improving the livelihoods and breaking socio- economic barriers in the communities including the displaced communities through green innovations and entrepreneurship. 3. Empower smallholder farmers and households at grassroot level with smart and modern farming technologies to eradicate hunger and poverty 4. Promote participatory exercise for the conservation and sustainable use of natural resources
Our Focus Our work is hinged on two key thematic areas that directly respond to the interlinked challenges of climate change, environmental degradation, and livelihood insecurity in arid and semi-arid lands (ASALs). Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Climate Change Mitigation & Adaptation and Sustainable Livelihoods Development and Environmental Conservation.
Global Educational, Economic and Social Empowerment (GEESE) works to combat land degradation and desertification through community-led natural resource management, sustainable agriculture, afforestation, and climate-resilient livelihoods. Our activities focus on women and refugee empowerment, capacity building, and awareness programs to promote environmental sustainability and socio-economic resilience.
TASA focuses on environmental conservation and community empowerment, which aligns with UNCCD themes. We aim to reduce land degradation by promoting sustainable use of natural resources, including mangrove conservation, and supporting alternative livelihoods like beekeeping and seaweed farming. Our activities include grassroots education on environmental protection, reforestation programs, and empowering vulnerable groups to enhance ecosystem resilience and sustainable livelihoods.
RPA is the fiscal sponsor to many sponsored projects, such as Science Based Targets Network, Nature Positive Initiative, and Youth Climate Action Fund. RPA maintains observer status with ECOSOC accreditation since 2022 and is seeking observer status through UNCCD to further support and benefit the sponsored projects we host to advance progress and collaboration amongst related themes of Land Use Change, Mitigation, Sustainable Land Management, and UN Convention Synergy.
ASRAD works in Mali and across the Sahel to combat desertification through reforestation, land restoration, environmental education, and the empowerment of women and youth. The NGO develops resilience projects, raises community awareness, and actively participates in international conferences to promote local and sustainable solutions in line with the UNCCD
Our mission is to restore and protect tropical dry forest and coastal ecosystems across Central America's Pacific slope. To achieve this, Paso Pacifico creates pathways for people and nature to thrive together. For example, we support local efforts to restore habitats and build climate resilience. And, we help expand job opportunities through nature-based solutions.
Endangered Rainforest Rescue is restoring a wildlife corridor across one of the largest areas of deforestation in Panama’s Darién, reconnecting two Indigenous territories. By reforesting degraded cattle lands through land acquisition, native seed collection, community nurseries, and large-scale planting, our locally led approach combats land degradation, safeguards biodiversity, enhances soil and water, and builds climate resilience while supporting sustainable livelihoods.
Creation of native forests that function as green infrastructure to restore land degraded by natural disasters, prevent future disasters, and support biodiversity. Since 2011, planted 650,000 native trees. Organized international symposium with UNCCD in 2024.
