The Global Symposium on Soil Erosion (GSER19) will be a science-policy meeting, held at the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) headquarters in Rome, Italy. Jointly organized by the UN FAO and its Global Soil Partnership (GSP), the Intergovernmental Technical Panel on Soils (ITPS), together with the Science-Policy Interface (SPI) of UNCCD, and the Joint FAO/IAEA Programme Nuclear Techniques in Food and Agriculture, its main objective is to establish a common platform to present and discuss the latest information on the status of interventions and innovations in the field of soil erosion and related land management. Read more...  

The Ministry of Agriculture of Ethiopia, CIAT, WLRC and WOCAT invite participants to the WOCAT Symposium and the 19th WOCAT Network Meeting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The aim of the event is to bring together a wide range of stakeholders to share and discuss their experiences and findings on how WOCAT has been used in the past and how it could be used in the future for up- and out-scaling sustainable land management and for achieving land degradation neutrality and other Sustainable Development Goals. Under the patronage of Cabo Verde, in collaboration with Italy and FAO, WASAG announces its 1st International Forum on Water Scarcity in Agriculture to take place Praia, Cabo Verde. The forum aims at identifying concrete – practical, innovative and collaborative – solutions to address water scarcity in agriculture in a changing climate.  With a focus on Small Island Developing States and West African countries, the forum is expected to illustrate how water scarcity in agriculture can be addressed and turned into an opportunity for sustainable development, food and nutrition security. Governments, private sector and other stakeholders will gather in Accra under the overarching theme “Climate Action in Africa: A Race We Can Win” focusing on energy transition, nature-based solutions, and cities and local action. The high-level segment will bring together ministers and senior leaders to discuss visions for Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) enhancement and implementation, carbon pricing and markets, and the operationalization of the ambition cycle in the Africa region.
