Accredited CSO
The UNCCD COP recognizes that the involvement and participation of the civil society is vital to the successful implementation of this Convention. It therefore welcomes the contribution of CSOs, with particular regard to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), to the official meetings of the UNCCD.
Representatives from CSOs that are accredited to the COP may directly participate in the UNCCD secretariat’s sessions. At these sessions CSOs are consulted on United Nation’s policy and programme matters. They also play key roles at major United Nations conferences as indispensable partners for efforts at the country level. Below are the current accredited CSO's to the Convention.
Sustainable agriculture, environmental conservation, empowerment of marginalized communities. NISUD empowers indigenous farmers and rural communities in Malawi to adopt sustainable agricultural practices, promoting resilience to desertification. We focus on preserving traditional indigenous knowledge, enhancing food security, and advocating for policies against land degradation. Through community-led projects, we integrate climate change adaptation and biodiversity conservation strategies.
Uru Uru Team restores degraded wetlands in Bolivia using nature-based solutions, Indigenous knowledge, and youth leadership. We rehabilitate soil and water through totora planting, empower local communities, and promote climate resilience. Our efforts address desertification, land degradation, and drought, aligning with the goals of the UNCCD through sustainable land management and biodiversity conservation.
Refugee Women Organization (REWO) promotes climate resilience and sustainable livelihoods among refugee and host communities in Uganda. Our work focuses on land restoration, climate-smart agriculture, women-led natural resource management, and community education to combat desertification and enhance ecosystem sustainability.
Primary Theme(s): Environmental conservation, biodiversity preservation, and sustainable land management. SAHO aims to combat desertification, restore degraded lands, and enhance community resilience through afforestation and education in Tanzania. Activities: Planted 470,000 trees across 11,300 ha, propagated 500,000 seedlings, preserved 1,083 kg of seeds, and engaged 12,110 individuals and 56 schools in tree planting and agroforestry, aligning with UNCCD’s LDN and drought resilience goal
Global Education Partnership (GEP) promotes sustainable land management and environmental education in rural Tanzania. Through youth-led initiatives, school programs, and community engagement, GEP raises awareness on land degradation, climate resilience, and ecosystem restoration, aligning with UNCCD goals to combat desertification and promote sustainable development.
Turning Drylands Green Initiative aims to mitigate effects of disasters while restoring sustainable land management, particularly in arid and semi-arid (ASALs). It would be achieved via four main sub-objectives, a) rehabilitation of rainwater ways, b) mobilizing/empowering target Communities, c) development of sufficient water storage infrastructure, thus enabling d) planting/growing of vegetation [agro-forestry/fodder trees, pastures, shrubs (along drainage canals for protection) etc].

Hope and Growth Initiative promotes sustainable livelihoods through reforestation, soil conservation, climate-smart agriculture, and environmental education. We empower communities especially youth and women to combat land degradation and build resilience in dryland regions.
L’ADCE Mali (Association pour le Développement de la Culture Entrepreneuriale) lutte contre la désertification par l’agroforesterie, le compostage et la valorisation d’espèces locales. Elle accompagne les jeunes et les femmes dans l’entrepreneuriat vert, renforçant ainsi la résilience des communautés face à la dégradation des terres et aux effets du changement climatique.
KESYDO promotes land restoration, climate resilience, and community empowerment through afforestation, fruit tree planting, and clean energy solutions. We engage youth and women in restoring degraded land in schools and rural areas, integrating peacebuilding, digital literacy, and sustainable livelihoods to combat desertification and enhance ecosystem health across Kenya.
