Accredited CSO
The UNCCD COP recognizes that the involvement and participation of the civil society is vital to the successful implementation of this Convention. It therefore welcomes the contribution of CSOs, with particular regard to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), to the official meetings of the UNCCD.
Representatives from CSOs that are accredited to the COP may directly participate in the UNCCD secretariat’s sessions. At these sessions CSOs are consulted on United Nation’s policy and programme matters. They also play key roles at major United Nations conferences as indispensable partners for efforts at the country level. Below are the current accredited CSO's to the Convention.
Girls United for Human Rights (GUHR) is a youth- and girl-led organization advancing climate justice, gender equality, and human rights in crisis-affected regions. Our work focuses on empowering marginalized communities especially women and girls through advocacy, legal aid, education, and climate-resilient initiatives, including reforestation, disaster risk reduction, and awareness on sustainable land and water use aligned with UNCCD goals.
VEDCO is a national Ugandan NGO, which was founded in 1986 and registered as an NGO in 1992. VEDCO’s vision is Poverty free and well-nourished farming communities with environmental consciousness with the mission to make agriculture practices work for farming communities to achieve; prosperity, food and nutrition security, economic competitiveness and Ecosystem’s balance. One of VEDCO’s 5year strategic objective is to improve on climate & natural resource management.
CLIMA works to preserve biodiversity, tackle climate change, and combat desertification. Its mission includes promoting sustainable management of natural resources, addressing global environmental changes while reducing their impacts on communities, enhancing food and nutrition security, and advancing research to support evidence-based actions for sustainable development.
1. Education. To improve access to quality education, ensure every child has equal chance to learn 2. Livelihoods. We work to improve living standards of rural people especially women and youth by increasing household incomes and diversification of income streams. Health. Our Program aims to improve health outcomes, and increase equitable access to quality, affordable healthcare, especially for vulnerable groups like children and young people, promoting maternal, newborn and child health.

L’organisation promeut l’agroécologie, le reboisement communautaire, la gestion durable des sols et la sensibilisation à la protection de l’environnement, tout en favorisant des moyens de subsistance durables et inclusifs.
The Tizzigzoute Association for Environment and Development works with vulnerable and indigenous communities in southeast Morocco to combat desertification and land degradation. Our activities include reforestation, water conservation, renewable energy projects, environmental education, and empowering women and youth to build resilience against climate change impacts.
SISF works to combat desertification and land degradation in the Sahel region through regenerative agriculture training for farmers promoting zero tillage, composting, and organic practices and youth-led tree planting initiatives in schools. These efforts align with UNCCD’s goals by restoring degraded land, enhancing drought resilience, and engaging local communities in sustainable land management.
It is our aim to support institutions, firms, coalition, networks, both local and international to sustainably manage forests, combat desertification through the implementation of programs and projects to halt and reverse land degradation and biodiversity loss. We also provide the platform and resources to build the capacity of the marginalized and vulnerable communities to enhance decision making about their welfare.
Media Matters for Women (MMW) in Sierra Leone aims to empower rural women and girls by providing to combat primarily by improving the living conditions and resilience of affected communities and enhancing ecosystems. The objectives focus on achieving a land degradation-neutral society, promoting sustainable land and water resource management in communities, fostering local cooperation, mobilizing resources, and generating community environmental benefits through long-term, integrated strategies
Sudan Agwa Organization is dedicated to humanitarian aid in Sudan, focusing on the economic empowerment of women and youth. Our programs enhance productivity on small farms by restoring soil fertility and promoting organic fertilization methods such as charged biochar. We also run school afforestation initiatives, engaging middle school students in planting perennial trees to raise awareness about the importance of combating desertification and empower them as ambassadors for green change.
