Accredited CSO
The UNCCD COP recognizes that the involvement and participation of the civil society is vital to the successful implementation of this Convention. It therefore welcomes the contribution of CSOs, with particular regard to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), to the official meetings of the UNCCD.
Representatives from CSOs that are accredited to the COP may directly participate in the UNCCD secretariat’s sessions. At these sessions CSOs are consulted on United Nation’s policy and programme matters. They also play key roles at major United Nations conferences as indispensable partners for efforts at the country level. Below are the current accredited CSO's to the Convention.
ASP is a arts and cultural organization in the eastern range of the Colombian Andes. Our vision is to create a natural reserve on a 98 hectare former coffee and cattle farm. We seek to research native plant species at the service of design products; document passive regeneration and establish flora & fauna inventories; achieve food security for local communities through a food forest that involves local farmers. We aspire be an example of productive alternatives for conservation in the region.
Family Visions Child Trust (Family Visions) is a rural development community-based organization operating in Makoni district, Manicaland province, Zimbabwe. Our vision is to become a leading development partner in Makoni district, which ensures sustainable access to food, health, education, climate change, water and sanitation, and other developmental needs. Our mission is to contribute towards district poverty alleviation and sustainable development of Makoni district
ASSAMBA promotes bamboo-based agroforestry systems for restoring degraded lands including salt-affected agricultural land. With 13+ years experience, we develop communitycentered solutions combining sustainable land management, soil rehabilitation, and climateresilient livelihoods. Our Integrated Bamboo Agroforestry Systems (IBAS) address soil degradation challenges while empowering smallholder farmers through participatory training and cooperative development in Mozambique.
The Egyptian Biodynamic Association (EBDA) promotes regenerative and biodynamic farming to address desertification and land degradation. Through the Economy of Love Standard, EBDA empowers farmers with training, access to carbon credits, and sustainable market opportunities. Its activities include afforestation, composting, soil carbon sequestration, and renewable energy adoption, all fostering ecosystem restoration and resilience in arid and semi-arid regions.
Wadi for Sustainable Ecosystems Development (Wadi) is a Jordanian NGO dedicated to restoring ecosystems and building climate resilience by combining science, community action, and innovative water and land management. What sets Wadi apart is its production of high-quality native seedlings, integration of applied research, and equity-driven livelihoods, turning ecological restoration into lasting social and economic impact.
Horn Nature Conservation (HNC) is a Somali community-based NGO working to combat desertification, land degradation, and climate change. Our primary themes include biodiversity conservation, climate-smart agriculture, and sustainable land and water management. HNC aims to restore ecosystems, build community resilience, and promote environmental justice through reforestation, rangeland rehabilitation, livelihood support, and policy advocacy aligned with the UNCCD process.
The Ignite Foundation nurtures hyper-local leaders for social and climate action through education, community engagement, and sustainable initiatives. Our programs focus on nurturing and enabling hyper local problem solvers to combat biodiversity protection, and youth-led community projects that foster resilience and align with the UNCCD’s mission of sustainable land management.
The Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) guided by our motto "Academia for Society and Industry", empowers communities and decision-makers across Africa to tackle desertification, land degradation, and drought. Through postgraduate education, applied research, and community outreach, NM-AIST builds local capacity, promotes sustainable land use practices, and fosters innovation aimed at enhancing resilience in arid and semi-arid regions.
The primary themes relevant to the UNCCD process are sustainable land management, soil degradation prevention, forestry, and use of science and technology. Our activities include sectors like advocacy, capacity building, education training and awareness, gender, field project implementation and research and development.
Instituto Terra works on ecological restoration of the Atlantic Forest, recovery of degraded lands, and conservation of soil and water resources. We develop reforestation projects, environmental education, and applied research, promoting integrated solutions to combat desertification, mitigate climate change, and strengthen local communities.
