Accredited CSO
The UNCCD COP recognizes that the involvement and participation of the civil society is vital to the successful implementation of this Convention. It therefore welcomes the contribution of CSOs, with particular regard to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), to the official meetings of the UNCCD.
Representatives from CSOs that are accredited to the COP may directly participate in the UNCCD secretariat’s sessions. At these sessions CSOs are consulted on United Nation’s policy and programme matters. They also play key roles at major United Nations conferences as indispensable partners for efforts at the country level. Below are the current accredited CSO's to the Convention.
Mthunzi Trust is a youth-led NGO working in Lilongwe and Blantyre, Malawi, to empower women and youth in rural areas through environmental protection, education, health (SRHR), and entrepreneurship. It implements tree planting, land restoration, environmental education, SRHR awareness, and entrepreneurship training, seeking UNCCD accreditation to share experiences and strengthen efforts against land degradation.
Our organization is dedicated to forest restoration in Northeast Asia, with the primary goal of promoting peace in regions divided or affected by environmental degradation. We seek to register as an observer to the UNCCD in order to collaborate at COP17 in Mongolia next year. Currently, Peace Forest Work is engaged in creating and nurturing forests in northern Mongolia near the Russian border, and through this cooperation, we aim to strengthen our activities and expand our global network.
Wetlands International is well-known for its expertise in wetland restoration and its significant role in fostering international alliances. We excel at linking biodiversity, climate, and land issues together. By grounding our work in knowledge-based and inclusive, we help craft policies that are not only fair and practical but also truly reflect realistic situations. As a respected and neutral organization, we play a vital role in developing restoration strategies that protect wetlands.
MVP promotes land protection focused on conservation and sustainable development in the Mamoní sub-basin. Our work includes reforesting degraded areas, biodiversity monitoring, sustainable apiculture, and regenerative agriculture that support local livelihoods while promoting green economy and community resilience, reducing pressure on local flora and fauna. We also promote environmental education through digital outreach and aim to establish the preserve as a living laboratory.
Global Cerah advances sustainable land management and circular agriculture in Malaysia and Southeast Asia. Using IoT-based systems, the organization converts organic waste into alternative animal feed and fertilizers, reducing landfill use. By supporting farmers with sustainable technologies and practices, Global Cerah contributes to the UNCCD goals of soil restoration and ecosystem resilience.
NORDESO promotes sustainable land management and climate adaptation in Northern Ghana through reforestation, climate-smart agriculture, and soil restoration. Our programs improve food security, support smallholder farmers and pastoralists, and build community resilience to drought and land degradation.

Ciudad del Saber promotes innovation for social change through intersectoral collaboration among academia, NGOs, government, and private sector. Relevant to the UNCCD, it supports sustainable development, environmental education, and knowledge exchange to combat land degradation and foster resilience in Panama and the region.
Public Lab Mongolia (PLM ) is a non-profit promoting open data, citizen science, and community-driven climate resilience in Mongolia. PLM has worked extensively at the intersection of climate change adaptation, community engagement, and gender-responsive resilience planning, fostering participatory approaches that ensure local knowledge informs national and international policy processes. Through its work with various partners, PLM promotes community-based adaptation and knowledge-sharing.
Natura dirige sus esfuerzos a la mejora en la gestión ambiental de los territorios, a través de la adaptación al cambio climático, conservación de la biodiversidad, manejo de áreas protegidas y cuencas hidrográficas, aportando directamente a recuperar y restaurar ecosistemas, mejorar suelos, transferir buenas prácticas en agroforestería, silvopastoril, ecoturismo, contribuyendo al manejo sostenible de bosques, prevención y reducción de la desertificación, con participación comunitaria.
