Accredited CSO
The UNCCD COP recognizes that the involvement and participation of the civil society is vital to the successful implementation of this Convention. It therefore welcomes the contribution of CSOs, with particular regard to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), to the official meetings of the UNCCD.
Representatives from CSOs that are accredited to the COP may directly participate in the UNCCD secretariat’s sessions. At these sessions CSOs are consulted on United Nation’s policy and programme matters. They also play key roles at major United Nations conferences as indispensable partners for efforts at the country level. Below are the current accredited CSO's to the Convention.
The Centre Technique Agroécologique du Sud (CTAS) is a Malagasy NGO dedicated to combating land degradation and desertification in Southern Madagascar. Its main activities include promoting agroecological practices, restoring degraded soils, producing and disseminating climate-resilient seeds, and strengthening community capacities. CTAS aims to enhance food security, resilience, and sustainable land management through locally driven initiatives.
Masungi Georeserve Foundation is a youth-led, award-winning NGO dedicated to landscape-scale conservation sustained by geotourism, education, and creative engineering. Its model of restoration and assisted natural regeneration has earned global honors, including the UN SDG Action Award and the International Ranger Award, positioning Masungi as a leading example of youth-driven, community-centered conservation.
Stichting Duurzame Innovatie is an environmental NGO dedicated to strengthening vulnerable ecosystems through innovative, inclusive solutions. We address desertification through community-led afforestation efforts (Trees in the Desert, Morocco), plastic pollution (Canal Cleanups, NL), food insecurity (Frigo Amigo, NL), and raise awareness on water scarcity and foster environmental stewardship in schools (Kletsnatte Oplossingen, NL).
The Centre d’Assistance aux Migrants (CAM) addresses climate-induced migration, with a focus on drought, desertification and land degradation. CAM promotes sustainable land management to reduce forced displacement, advocates for climate and social justice, and protects the rights of migrants. Its activities combine awareness, advocacy and partnerships to foster inclusive and sustainable solutions.
Themes: Environmental Education; Climate Justice, Resilience and Adaptation to the Effects of Climate Change; Aim: Contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, especially 1, 2, 5, 6, 8, 9, 13, 14 and 15; to the implementation of the action program of the International Conference on Population and Development (PA/CIPD) and its reviews; to the implementation of the recommendations from RIO+20 and COP21 on climate and the poverty reduction strategy in the DRC.
Deltares supports global drought resilience through policy advice, vulnerability assessments, early warning systems, and integrated water governance. It advances nature-based and hybrid infrastructure solutions, transboundary cooperation (e.g. Rhine, Meuse, WPS Partnership), and inclusive approaches that empower vulnerable communities – all in alignment with UNCCD's priorities across drought and flood risk management.
Bosque Urbano de EXTRA A.C. promotes urban ecological restoration, sustainable forestry, and environmental education to combat land degradation. Through reforestation, community engagement, and strategic alliances, it contributes to climate resilience and biodiversity conservation in urban and peri-urban areas.
SEDARVP Ghana promotes the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity through community-led initiatives. Our relevant work includes agroecology, restoring degraded lands with native species, preserving traditional crop varieties, and empowering local communities as stewards of ecosystems, directly aligning with the UNCBD's objectives
Youth-founded Peruvian NGO working with Andean peasant communities to restore degraded high-Andean grasslands and wetlands, recover biodiversity, and strengthen local land governance. CIAM combines science, traditional knowledge, and youth leadership to promote sustainable land management, environmental education, and community-based tourism linked to restoration.
APEDR œuvre pour la protection de l’environnement, la restauration des terres dégradées et la promotion de l’agroécologie au Burkina Faso. Ses actions incluent le reboisement, la gestion durable des ressources naturelles, l’appui aux organisations paysannes, la sensibilisation sur les changements climatiques et l’autonomisation des communautés rurales pour renforcer leur résilience et contribuer aux objectifs de la CNULCD.
