Accredited CSO
The UNCCD COP recognizes that the involvement and participation of the civil society is vital to the successful implementation of this Convention. It therefore welcomes the contribution of CSOs, with particular regard to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), to the official meetings of the UNCCD.
Representatives from CSOs that are accredited to the COP may directly participate in the UNCCD secretariat’s sessions. At these sessions CSOs are consulted on United Nation’s policy and programme matters. They also play key roles at major United Nations conferences as indispensable partners for efforts at the country level. Below are the current accredited CSO's to the Convention.
A truly global federation, IFLA currently represents 82 national associations from Africa, the Americas, Europe, Asia Pacific and the Middle East. Our mission as landscape architects is to create globally sustainable and balanced living environments for the benefit of humanity worldwide. IFLA is the only international non-governmental, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting landscape architecture and the value of the profession.
NEYC serves as a nationally representative youth platform that strengthens science–policy interfaces, and promotes a sustainable environment through evidence-based policy contributions at national and international levels. NEYC advances a coordinated, inclusive, and evidence-driven approach to combating desertification and land degradation, ensuring institutionalized, impactful youth engagement aligned with national priorities and the UNCCD Strategic Framework.
The Egyptian sustainable development forum (ESDF) ESDF works through “Working Groups” covering different issues of sustainable development (economic, social & environment), in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and works to combat desertification, land degradation, and drought through community-based projects, sustainable land management, and climate change adaptation. Since 2015, ESDF has empowered youth, enhanced environmental awareness, and built resilience in vulnerable areas
Climate Resilience and Adaptation Network (CRAN) is a youth-led organization advancing climate adaptation, land restoration, and ecosystem resilience in Somalia. Relevant to UNCCD, CRAN promotes drought resilience, sustainable land management, community-based restoration, climate education, and policy engagement. Activities include capacity building, youth-led climate dialogues, dryland restoration initiatives, and advocacy aligned with NAPs, NDCs, and sustainable land governance frameworks.
New Nomad Institute advances nomadic knowledge systems as adaptive responses to climate change and land degradation. We conduct research that examines how nomadic pastoralism addresses adaptation, food systems, and sustainable land management. We deliver land-based education programs, and develop narrative work engaging artists to reimagine futures. Based in Mongolia, we welcome global collaborators interested in climate, education, and traditional knowledge systems.
Independent Brazilian think tank producing evidence-based research on sustainable land management, land restoration, climate adaptation and biodiversity-based economic development. Active in Brazil’s semi-arid Caatinga region, contributing to land degradation neutrality (LDN), drought resilience, restoration finance and policy design aligned with the objectives of the UNCCD.
Struggle for Community Support Alliance (SCSA) works with the Vice President’s Office and other stakeholders in Tanzania to support the implementation of the UNCCD by addressing DLDD. Organisation promotes conservation, sustainable water access, community awareness, and alternative energy use while empowering rural communities especially women and youth through education, health initiatives and livelihood programs.
GBIF provide “the most comprehensive, openly available, application-agnostic (most unbiased), easiest-to-use, and modern access point to known digital species occurrence data” (CODATA). Data from our network is used across all domains of science and supports policy across national, regional and global scale. Applying our success in capacity development at individual, institutional and national levels will create intersectoral synergies with UNCCD.
Fund "Agroinnovatsiya" promotes sustainable land management and ecosystem restoration in Uzbekistan, with a strong focus on the Aral Sea region. The organization supports pasture restoration, climate-resilient agriculture, water-efficient practices and community-based land stewardship. Through projects such as Aral Wetlands, farmer field schools, and regional partnerships, the Fund advances nature-based solutions, capacity building and policy dialogue aligned with the UNCCD agenda.
Pure Hands focuses on sustainable development and climate resilience in Yemen. Our work includes restoring livelihoods, strengthening food security through sustainable agriculture, and improving access to safe water and sanitation. We implement climate-responsive solutions to reduce environmental degradation, support adaptation, and promote renewable energy, helping communities withstand and recover from droughts and floods, aligning with UNCCD goals.
