Accredited CSO
The UNCCD COP recognizes that the involvement and participation of the civil society is vital to the successful implementation of this Convention. It therefore welcomes the contribution of CSOs, with particular regard to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), to the official meetings of the UNCCD.
Representatives from CSOs that are accredited to the COP may directly participate in the UNCCD secretariat’s sessions. At these sessions CSOs are consulted on United Nation’s policy and programme matters. They also play key roles at major United Nations conferences as indispensable partners for efforts at the country level. Below are the current accredited CSO's to the Convention.
Primary themes: Land degradation neutrality, climate resilience, sustainable land management, water governance, biodiversity conservation, and community-based adaptation. Aims and Activities: Centre for Sustainable Development - Pakistan advances ecosystem restoration, drought resilience, and sustainable livelihoods through policy research, community mobilization, capacity building, youth engagement, and multi-stakeholder partnerships aligned with the UNCCD process.
WRF is a plural network that promotes family farming and sustainable rural development. It is mainly composed by family farming organisations, collectively representing over 75 million family farmers across 90 countries. WRF is a champion of the UN Decade of Family Farming 2019-2028. WRF promotes family farming as an effective model to address global environmental challenges, the inclusion of women and youth and improved policies and finance for rural communities.
1. SUSTAINABLE LAND MANAGEMENT Primary theme: Sustainable land management and restoration. Aims: Promote land degradation neutrality through community-based restoration projects. Activities: Implement reforestation in degraded areas, train farmers in sustainable agriculture techniques, establish demonstration plots for soil conservation, and advocate for integrated land use planning policies at local and national levels. 2. Youth Council for Development Alternatives (YCDA) works to promote sustainable rural development, climate resilience, and social inclusion in vulnerable communities of Odisha, India. Relevant to the UNCCD process, YCDA implements climate-smart agriculture, watershed management, land restoration, water conservation, youth-led green initiatives, and community-based natural resource management to combat desertification and strengthen livelihoods.
Habitat Defenders Africa (HDA) works on land and habitat rights, climate justice, and community resilience. Our core aims include protecting tenure security, supporting women-led and grassroots communities affected by land degradation and climate impacts, promoting sustainable land use, and advancing access to justice. We conduct community research, legal empowerment, advocacy, policy engagement, and capacity building to address desertification, land degradation, and drought.
The Lincoln Institute of Land Policy seeks to improve quality of life through the effective use, taxation, and stewardship of land and water to ensure a livable future.
HopeChild, Inc. advances sustainable land management, climate adaptation, soil restoration, agroforestry, and drought resilience in vulnerable communities across East and Central Africa. Through climate-smart agriculture, water conservation, ecosystem restoration, and youth and women farmer capacity building, the organization strengthens food security and supports Land Degradation Neutrality aligned with UNCCD objectives.

Humanculture is an Indigenous-led nonprofit supporting land stewardship and resilience through Indigenous governance and knowledge systems. We work across climate-vulnerable ecosystems to address land degradation and drought. Our work centers on strengthening nomadic and pastoral, land-based livelihoods and community-led groundwater stewardship. Through these Indigenous systems, our work sustains human and animal life and supports biodiversity under increasing drought and climate pressures.
