Accredited CSO
The UNCCD COP recognizes that the involvement and participation of the civil society is vital to the successful implementation of this Convention. It therefore welcomes the contribution of CSOs, with particular regard to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), to the official meetings of the UNCCD.
Representatives from CSOs that are accredited to the COP may directly participate in the UNCCD secretariat’s sessions. At these sessions CSOs are consulted on United Nation’s policy and programme matters. They also play key roles at major United Nations conferences as indispensable partners for efforts at the country level. Below are the current accredited CSO's to the Convention.
Founded in 2007, Shan Shui Conservation Center is a Chinese NGO dedicated to conserving species and ecosystems and fostering harmonious coexistence between people and nature. We work extensively with local communities across diverse ecosystems. For example, on the Gyatong Grassland in Qinghai, we have supported local communities in conducting grassland restoration trials to mitigate grassland degradation, resulting in the planting and rehabilitation of over 133 hectares of grassland.
Humundi, anciennement SOS-Faim, agit pour transformer les systèmes alimentaires afin de lutter contre la faim, la pauvreté et les inégalités. Avec notre réseau mondial de 70 partenaires, nous soutenons la transition agroécologique des communautés paysannes, afin de renforcer leur autonomie économique et alimentaire. Notre priorité est de garantir à toutes et tous un accès équitable à une alimentation saine et durable, tout en préservant notre planète pour les générations futures.
L'APEBH-Burundi lutte contre la dégradation des terres via l'approche "Une Seule Santé". Nos axes : 1. Restauration des sols par des techniques antiérosives et reboisement pour la sécurité alimentaire. 2. Protection des écosystèmes (dont le lac Tanganyika) contre les pollutions. 3. Renforcement des capacités des femmes et des jeunes pour une gestion durable des terres. Nos actions : sensibilisation, formation aux pratiques résilientes, recyclage et plaidoyer pour des politiques intégrées.
Pass NetZero develops cost-effective aquatic carbon capture solutions in Southern Africa through university partnerships. Research focuses on using aquatic plants for carbon sequestration, methane emission mitigation, water bioremediation, and sustainable bio-product development. Active partnerships span Namibia, Malawi, Botswana, with expansion into Zimbabwe and Zambia. Community-centered approach with local student researchers.
RBG Kew is a world-leading botanical garden and research institution. With a team of over 500 scientists working in over 100 countries, Kew has a breadth and depth of expertise related to desertification and land degradation. This includes research to support local farmers to adapt their practices to the impacts of climate change, collecting and researching the seeds of vulnerable plant species, and identifying priority areas for conservation and/or restoration.
We promote sustainable land management, ecosystem restoration, community resilience and participatory policy engagement to support efforts combating climate change, desertification, land degradation and drought. Our activities include capacity building, knowledge sharing, stakeholder collaborations and project implementation that align with UNCCD objectives and enhance local action on land degradation neutrality.

Climate Policy Radar builds open databases and tools to support informed decision-making on climate, nature, land degradation and development. Our latest tool, Rio Policy Radar, brings together submissions to the UNCCD, UNFCCC and CBD, including LDN targets, country reports and drought plans. It allows users to explore interlinkages and strengthen policy coherence, enabled by our topics features, with topics on desertification, adaptation, food security, subsidies, and indigenous peoples.
WCS is an international NGO headquartered in NY, with offices &programs in >55 countries. We work to save wildlife & wild places through science, conservation action, education, and collaboration with governments, IPs & LCs. We have ECOSOC Consultative Status & observer status with several multilaterals including: CBD, CITES, UNFCCC, CMS, UNESCO,UNEP. Our work includes: ecological integrity, protected and conserved areas; land degradation; climate change; wildlife conservation; & One Health.
The aim of the Global Rewilding Alliance (GRA) and its partners (280 total, of which 40+ work on various types of rangelands worldwide) is to maintain and restore the functionality of Planet Earth’s ecosystems to the benefit of nature and people. A GRA Rangelands Working Group was formed in 2025. 3 key objectives underlie our work: Bring Back Wild Animals; Wilder Working Landscapes; Enhance Ecosystem Services. We believe that cooperation between rewilding and pastoralism is mutually beneficial.
