Civil society organizations
The UNCCD COP recognizes that the involvement and participation of the civil society is vital to the successful implementation of this Convention. It therefore welcomes the contribution of CSOs, with particular regard to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), to the official meetings of the UNCCD.
Representatives from CSOs that are accredited to the COP may directly participate in the UNCCD secretariat’s sessions. At these sessions CSOs are consulted on United Nation’s policy and programme matters. They also play key roles at major United Nations conferences as indispensable partners for efforts at the country level. Below are the current accredited CSO's to the Convention.
FIDEP Foundation advances sustainable land, climate justice, and community resilience by empowering frontline groups and influencing policy for equitable, nature-based resource governance. Aims: (1) promote agroecological land use and food security, (2) strengthen policy implementation and resource governance. Activities: policy research, community capacity building, rights advocacy, inclusive climate and energy dialogues, and grassroots ecosystem resilience initiatives.
Smart Aid Initiative works to strengthen community resilience in climate risks awareness through, environmental education, climate adaptation, and inclusive livelihoods. Our activities focus on grassroots awareness, youth and women empowerment, policy advocacy, and community-led solutions that promote land restoration, environmental protection, and sustainable use of natural resources in vulnerable communities.
The Institute for Environment and Sustainable Development (IESD) works to address desertification, land degradation, and drought through applied research, capacity building, and community-based action. Our activities focus on ecosystem restoration, climate-resilience, nature-based solutions, and sustainable livelihoods in arid and semi-arid regions of northwest China, supporting land degradation neutrality and ecosystem resilience.
Resilient40 works to strengthen community resilience to land degradation and climate change through sustainable land management, ecosystem restoration and climate-smart livelihoods. Its aims include combating desertification, improving soil and water health, and enhancing food security. Activities include capacity building, nature-based solutions, research and policy advocacy in dryland and vulnerable ecosystems.

The Society for the Protection of Underground Networks (SPUN) is a scientific research organization founded to map and advocate for the protection of the mycorrhizal fungal networks that regulate Earth's climate and ecosystems.
