Accredited CSO
The UNCCD COP recognizes that the involvement and participation of the civil society is vital to the successful implementation of this Convention. It therefore welcomes the contribution of CSOs, with particular regard to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), to the official meetings of the UNCCD.
Representatives from CSOs that are accredited to the COP may directly participate in the UNCCD secretariat’s sessions. At these sessions CSOs are consulted on United Nation’s policy and programme matters. They also play key roles at major United Nations conferences as indispensable partners for efforts at the country level. Below are the current accredited CSO's to the Convention.
Charity Action is a community-based organization in NAKIVALE Refugee Settlement, Isingiro District, Uganda. It promotes climate justice through environmental awareness, trees planting, and sustainable land management. The organization engages refugees and host communities in activities aimed at combating land degradation and enhancing climate resilience.

We help people access clean drinking water by training masons to build calabash cisterns. This allows them to collect rainwater, thanks to the cisterns design it becomes clean and cool drinking water. We focus on local needs, working with local people and local materials. These core values guide our work: bottom-up, equal ownership, empower, sustainability and local.
The Centre for Resource Mobilization and Community Development (CRMCD) focuses on sustainable land management, climate change adaptation, and community empowerment. CRMCD promotes reforestation, soil conservation, and capacity-building for rural communities to combat desertification and land degradation in line with UNCCD goals. Activities include awareness campaigns, training, and partnership building.
Supporting Entrepreneurship & Economic Development (SEED), founded in 2009 in Mattru Jong, Sierra Leone, empowers vulnerable communities through rights-based approaches focused on sustainable livelihoods, environmental protection, and social justice. SEED's work aligns with UNCCD goals by addressing land degradation via climate-smart agriculture, reforestation, livelihood support, and advocacy. MYF empowers youth and marginalized groups through education, social inclusion, and cultural and land preservations. Initiatives such as the Mediterranean Youth Academy promote SDGs, while the Mediterranean Initiative for Climate addresses climate challenges through non-formal education. The Al-Arish Castle Revitalization Project, has been accepted under the UNESCO x SEVENTEEN Grant Scheme, which aims to support initiatives that integrate cultural and land heritage with sustainability.
HIRDOs objectives that are relevant to the UNCCD process is to improve the life quality of community members using community-based approach and enable communities identify problems in their communities, formulate and implement both short- and long-term activities to solve those problems and better manage their resource base in the Horn of Africa. We work on Health, Nutrition, Education, Protection, WASH, Food Security and Livelihoods, Age and Disability Inclusion and Capacity building.
Himalayan Nature is a nonprofit conservation organization dedicated to biodiversity protection, habitat restoration, climate change adaptation, and sustainable livelihoods. Through community-based, science-driven approaches, HN promotes conservation of threatened species and ecosystems in Nepal’s Terai and mid-hill landscapes, empowering local communities and fostering coexistence between people and nature.
ARCOD implemented various projects related to Environment like wasteland development, people ecology agriculture, watershed management and promoting ecological agriculture during the years 1989 to 1998. The organisation is currently working to build the capacity of farmers on Sustainable Agriculture.
