Accredited CSO
The UNCCD COP recognizes that the involvement and participation of the civil society is vital to the successful implementation of this Convention. It therefore welcomes the contribution of CSOs, with particular regard to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), to the official meetings of the UNCCD.
Representatives from CSOs that are accredited to the COP may directly participate in the UNCCD secretariat’s sessions. At these sessions CSOs are consulted on United Nation’s policy and programme matters. They also play key roles at major United Nations conferences as indispensable partners for efforts at the country level. Below are the current accredited CSO's to the Convention.
Fundación Humedales is a non‑profit organization created in 2006 to conserve, restore and promote the sustainable use of wetlands as natural and cultural heritage. Through scientific research, traditional knowledge, sustainable practices and policy support, we strengthen governance and community capacities, addressing land degradation, desertification and drought by promoting wetlands as nature‑based solutions for resilience, water security and sustainable development.
The Culture Centre of the Deaf Mongolia promotes inclusive participation of Deaf communities in environmental and social processes. It focuses on accessibility, climate awareness, and disaster preparedness through sign language, inclusive education, and community-based training. Activities include advocacy, capacity building, and ensuring Deaf voices are represented in sustainable land and climate actions.
Shanghai Roots & Shoots was founded in 1999. The organization has pioneered innovative participatory environmental education, and has established Roots&Shoots groups in over 530 schools across the country, with more than 60,000 young volunteers. We empower young people to take action together to make a positive difference in our world through our programs including the Million Tree Project, YES, Organic Garden, KidStrong, Dragon Recyling, Restoring Habitat for Cao Vit Gibbon etc.

Our organization focuses on men’s equity, mental health, and family well-being in Mongolia. We examine how environmental change and livelihood stress, particularly in pastoral communities, affect social stability, behavior, and family dynamics. Our work includes research, training, and advocacy addressing the indirect social impacts of land degradation and climate-related challenges.
GECCI focuses on climate adaptation, sustainable land management, soil degradation prevention, agriculture, food security, water, and UN Convention synergy. We advance advocacy, capacity building, education, research, and field projects, empowering communities—especially youth—to promote resilience, restore ecosystems, and support sustainable livelihoods.
Mongolian Nature's Legacy Foundation is a non-profit organisation working at the intersection of conservation finance, land restoration, and community resilience in Mongolia. Key initiatives include the "Eternal Mongolia" Project Finance for Permanence, the National Green Lab for bankable green investments, and the Green Herder and Supply Chain Financing Scheme, delivered in partnership with government, private sector, and international partners.
Mongolia Without Waste (MWW) advances circular economy and sustainable waste management to reduce land and water pollution contributing to land degradation. Activities include EPR policy development, watershed restoration (Ugii & Kheltgii Tsagaan lakes), and capacity building via the Recycling Academy and Zero Waste Certifications. MWW also supports Plastic-Free COP17 with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of Mongolia.
Friendship Science Hub (FSH) is a Mongolian public-benefit NGO bridging the gap between research and "investable solutions" for desertification. We support innovation, technology transfer, and climate-smart agriculture. Through D-CAMP (Carbon Markets) and STEP programs, we promote nature-based solutions and resource efficiency to achieve Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN) and strengthen herder resilience.
UVM advances global efforts to address land degradation, drought resilience, sustainable farming, and climate-driven land use change. Its work spans agroecology, soil restoration, dryland research, climate risk assessment, sustainable land management, biodiversity science, and community-based adaptation, supporting healthy ecosystems and resilient communities aligned with UNCCD goals.
