Civil society organizations
The UNCCD COP recognizes that the involvement and participation of the civil society is vital to the successful implementation of this Convention. It therefore welcomes the contribution of CSOs, with particular regard to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), to the official meetings of the UNCCD.
Representatives from CSOs that are accredited to the COP may directly participate in the UNCCD secretariat’s sessions. At these sessions CSOs are consulted on United Nation’s policy and programme matters. They also play key roles at major United Nations conferences as indispensable partners for efforts at the country level. Below are the current accredited CSO's to the Convention.
Ant Forest Foundation is a Shanghai non-public foundation initiated by Ant Group, supervised by Shanghai's Bureau of Ecology and Environment. Mission: advance eco-innovations, reduce carbon footprints, advocate green development, and promote human-nature harmony. It funds ecological conservation, restoration, and education. Its flagship desertification project promotes low-carbon lifestyles while funding NGOs for reforestation in northwestern China, supporting national desertification control.
Restor is an accessible geospatial platform that fosters trust and investment in nature, combining ecological insights with connectivity to markets and expertise. Restor supports over 340,000 nature sites across over 168 million hectares of land, more than 37,000 nature stewards, and 7,500 organisations in more than 180 countries. Restor Insights supports large organisations financing around $280 million in on-the-ground work, and our UN FAO partnership helps track global restoration progress.
