Accredited CSO
The UNCCD COP recognizes that the involvement and participation of the civil society is vital to the successful implementation of this Convention. It therefore welcomes the contribution of CSOs, with particular regard to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), to the official meetings of the UNCCD.
Representatives from CSOs that are accredited to the COP may directly participate in the UNCCD secretariat’s sessions. At these sessions CSOs are consulted on United Nation’s policy and programme matters. They also play key roles at major United Nations conferences as indispensable partners for efforts at the country level. Below are the current accredited CSO's to the Convention.
SAB MULS is a "Green Entrepreneur University" and regional research hub. We aim to achieve Land Degradation Neutrality through science-led innovation. We manage 15 international projects (7.8 billion MNT), including AFACI (soil mapping), TACMEE (environmental engineering), and Friendship (nature-based solutions). We operate 12ha of "Living Laboratories" to pilot climate-smart technologies and utilize GIS/AI to monitor soil health in real-time.
Apacheta works at the intersection of science and technology, focusing on sustainable land and water management through monitoring, reporting, and capacity development. It supports partner organizations and countries in SDG and UNCCD processes, co-develops tailored data and open tools, and deliver projects aimed at empowering communities and decision-makers to achieve environmental goals.
The centre is an open international platform for black soil carbon and sustainable land management, integrating research, technology transfer, knowledge sharing and capacity building. It aims to support UNCCD land degradation neutrality, the science policy interface, and South South cooperation. Its activities include conducting research and developing innovative methods for black soil carbon and land management, establishing an international scientific think tank on black soil carbon and desert
Conecta Tierra A.C. impulsa la restauración ecológica, resiliencia climática y manejo sostenible de cuencas en, México, mediante educación ambiental, agroecología y soluciones basadas en la naturaleza. Desarrolla viveros escolares, restauración de Bosque Mesófilo de Montaña, sensibilizacion social con Realidad Virtual conservación hídrica, ecotecnologías y procesos comunitarios con mujeres y juventudes para combatir la degradación ambiental y fortalecer medios de vida rurales sostenibles.
Altai Tavan Bogd Heritage Conservation Foundation NGO (Mongolia) protects high-mountain ecosystems and advances climate resilience through scientific monitoring, environmental documentation, and public awareness. Focused on the Potanin Glacier, the Foundation addresses glacier retreat, permafrost degradation, and land degradation, contributing to Land Degradation Neutrality and sustainable land management in one of Central Asia's most vulnerable alpine regions.
The Indigenous Desert Alliance (IDA) is an Indigenous controlled, member-based organisation that plays a vital role in keeping the desert connected and building resilience for desert ranger programs. We are focused on working with our members and partners to ensure that Indigenous people are enabled to collaboratively manage Australia’s desert country and through this, to realise their social, cultural, environmental and economic aspirations.
Through participation in the UNCCD process, we hope to share practical experience from China’s dryland restoration and desertification-control efforts, contribute lessons from emerging China–Mongolia cooperation, and strengthen exchanges with governments, scientists, civil social organizations, and local communities from other affected regions.
GRI develops global sustainability reporting standards that enable organizations to disclose their impacts on the economy, environment, and people. GRI’s work relevant to UNCCD includes biodiversity, land use, ecosystem conversion, water, waste, agriculture, mining, oil and gas, local communities and Indigenous Peoples. GRI supports corporate accountability, capacity building, interoperability, and policy dialogue on land-related impacts, LDN, drought resilience and Rio Convention synergies.
Clim-Eat is a think-and-do tank accelerating climate action in food systems, with a strong focus on land use, soil health, sustainable agriculture, and just rural transitions in low- and middle-income countries. We bridge science, policy, and practice through evidence generation, multi-stakeholder engagement, advocacy, and implementation support to advance climate-resilient and equitable food systems aligned with global environmental goals.
Farmers' Seed Network (FSN) applies participatory, community-based action research to strengthen smallholder resilience in China's mountain and dryland landscapes. FSN promotes sustainable land management, soil and water conservation, agroforestry and restoration of degraded terraces, and farmer-led breeding of drought-tolerant crops. Through community seed banks and farmer-managed seed systems, it conserves the agrobiodiversity underpinning climate-adaptive agriculture and drought resilience.
