Emmanuel Seck
Emmanuel Seck is Executive Director of ENDA Energie, a UNCCD-accredited civil society organization based in Senegal. An environmentalist and expert in knowledge management, he has extensive experience in leading programmes on sustainable land management, desertification, land degradation and drought, climate change adaptation and disaster risk management. He is currently Chair of the Global Board of the Global Network for Disaster Reduction, a member of the UNFCCC Expert Group on Action and Support and an expert on slow-onset events.
He was a member of the first UNCCD CSO Panel and has contributed since 1998 to coordinating accredited CSOs through networks such as RIOD, Drynet and regional programmes on sustainable land management in Sub-Saharan Africa. He has been engaged at national, regional and international levels in the UNCCD process as well as in the UNFCCC and the Sendai Framework.
As an independent expert of the UNCCD, Mr. Seck has synthesized African country reports on implementation of the Convention and has published on desertification, slow-onset events, loss and damage, climate change adaptation and climate finance. He is regularly consulted by the African Union, the UNCCD Secretariat, the UNFCCC African Group of Negotiators and institutions including ODI, IDDRI, SEI, IIED and Germanwatch.
