Gaius Eudoxie
Dr. Gaius Eudoxie is Senior Lecturer in Soil Science at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus, with responsibility for teaching and research in sustainable soil management and crop nutrition. He also serves as Deputy Dean for Teaching, Learning and Student Development in the Faculty of Food and Agriculture. With more than 20 years of experience in teaching, research and development in soil management, his work has focused strongly on soil quality management.
He is a former Vice President of the Latin America and the Caribbean Soil Partnership (ASLAC) and currently coordinating member of the Caribbean Soil Support Group with responsibility for implementing Sustainable Soil Management in the Caribbean. He has also served as regional representative of the Group of Latin America and the Caribbean (GRULAC) and Vice Chair of the UNCCD Intergovernmental Working Group on Drought. He represents the University of the West Indies on the task force of the Partnership Initiative for Sustainable Soil Management and is a current member of the Intergovernmental Technical Panel on Soil under the Global Soil Partnership of the FAO.
Dr. Eudoxie has consulted within and beyond the Caribbean on sustainable soil management, composting, crop nutrition, climate-smart agriculture, soil pollution and remediation. In this capacity he has collaborated with national, regional and international agencies including ministries of agriculture, CARDI, IICA, CapNet UNDP, GWP, FAO, UNEP, BCRC and CARICOM. He also serves on several regional and national committees supporting sustainable natural resource use and management.
