Teshome Tamirat

Dr. Teshome Tamirat is Head of the Department of Forest at Ethiopian Forestry Development with more than 20 years of professional experience in forestry, agriculture and climate change. He holds a PhD in Forest Ecology from Addis Ababa University, an MSc in Agriculture and a Master’s degree in Project Management. He began his career as an agricultural and forestry expert at the Ministry of Agriculture.

He represents Ethiopia in the International Union of Forestry Research Organizations and serves as the National Focal Point for the UNCCD. With more than 20 peer-reviewed publications, his research contributes to forestry, agriculture and project management and has influenced both academic discourse and practical applications.

Dr. Tamirat’s leadership is central to advancing sustainable forestry practices and supporting land restoration targets in Ethiopia.
