Xiaoxia Jia
Ms. Xiaoxia Jia is Deputy Director General of the Department of Combating Desertification at China’s National Forestry and Grassland Administration. With over 30 years of experience in global land governance and science-policy cooperation, she has worked with the UNCCD Science-Policy Interface and supported collaboration with IPBES and IPCC.
She led support to the UNCCD Committee on Science and Technology (2019–2024), coordinated implementation in Asia and the Pacific, and served as China’s National Focal Point to the UNCCD (2011–2017). Ms. Jia was chief coordinator of China’s hosting of UNCCD COP13, where she also acted as COP13 President.
Her expertise spans the land–drought nexus, climate adaptation, restoration, renewable energy and carbon farming. Educated in China and Australia, she holds a Master’s in Natural Resources Management, double Bachelor’s degrees, and is a certified senior forestry engineer.
