Cawthron Institute is New Zealand’s largest independent science organisation. Through its Restore the Meadows programme, it leads pioneering restoration of degraded estuarine and coastal ecosystems—such as seagrass meadows and saltmarshes—enhancing biodiversity, improving water quality, preventing erosion, and sequestering carbon. It engages communities, iwi/hapū, and policymakers in land-to-sea solutions.
