Works with dryland farmers to improve their water and food security. Combats land degradation and desertification by building sand dams, terracing land, planting trees and improving farming methods. Provides technical support and undertakes research to support the local communities in the rehabilitation of degraded land. Promotes the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment for public benefit. Supports the advancement of the education of the public on the subjects of sustainable development, conservation and the relief of poverty, in particular but not exclusively by undertaking and disseminating research.
