Description
Promotes the development of systems to produce and utilize biochar, a substance that has the_x000D_
potential to restore fertility to degraded soils and improve agriculture in dry lands, help mitigate_x000D_
the anthropogenic greenhouse effect by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and sequestering_x000D_
atmospheric carbon in a stable soil carbon pool, and improve water quality by retaining_x000D_
agrochemicals. Promotes sustainable co-production of clean energy and other bio-based products_x000D_
as part of the biochar process, as well as efficient biomass utilization in developing country_x000D_
agriculture and cost-effective utilization of urban, agricultural and forest co-products.
