WOTR develops the capacities of rural communities, non-governmental organizations and others_x000D_ to undertake holistic natural resource regeneration and to adapt to climate change in semi-arid,_x000D_ resource-fragile and rain-fed areas of India. This includes diversification of livelihoods to reduce_x000D_ risks, and adopting appropriate agriculture and renewable energy technologies. WOTR also_x000D_ undertakes applied research. As of March 2009, the work of WOTR has touched over 800,000_x000D_ people from 992 villages through 748 watershed projects covering an area of 569,358 hectares in_x000D_ four states.
