Accredited CSO
The UNCCD COP recognizes that the involvement and participation of the civil society is vital to the successful implementation of this Convention. It therefore welcomes the contribution of CSOs, with particular regard to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), to the official meetings of the UNCCD.
Representatives from CSOs that are accredited to the COP may directly participate in the UNCCD secretariat’s sessions. At these sessions CSOs are consulted on United Nation’s policy and programme matters. They also play key roles at major United Nations conferences as indispensable partners for efforts at the country level. Below are the current accredited CSO's to the Convention.
EcoLogic Development Fund partners with local organizations in Central America and Mexico to address land degradation through integrated strategies, including community-led forest restoration, sustainable agriculture, and environmental education. We link conservation with livelihoods, advancing climate adaptation, and biodiversity protection.
The organization's main goal is to promote sustainable development through personal empowerment of youth, environmental protection, combating climate change, migration management, prevention of human trafficking, and providing rehabilitation and reintegration support to victims of trafficking, and vulnerable migrants.
LHA operates through four components: food security and nutrition, gender and empowerment, climate change, and the conservation and sustainable management of land and biodiversity. Its activities include training farmers in climate-smart agriculture, reforestation, sustainable farmland management, biochar production, support for agricultural entrepreneurs, and combating land degradation and related health issues.
Ibietê Institute promotes ecoconsciousness and socio-environmental regeneration through environmental education, agroforestry, leadership training, and regenerative ecotourism. We work with traditional and urban communities, strengthening networks of change agents and creating replicable models of positive impact in ecosystem restoration and community resilience.
Aurko empowers marginalized women and children through education while advancing land restoration and sustainable resource management. We promote renewable energy adoption, environmental awareness, and forest rehabilitation in Swapnanagar to strengthen climate resilience, combat land degradation, and foster inclusive, sustainable development.
Humana People to People Laos focuses on sustainable agriculture, environmental conservation, and community resilience. Their activities include promoting sustainable farming practices, reforestation, and natural resource management, which are aligned with the UNCCD’s goals to combat forestry degradation. The organization aims to empower communities through capacity building and partnership development to achieve resilient ecosystems and improved livelihoods
Our organization works to empower women, youth, and marginalized communities through sustainable development, climate resilience, and gender equality initiatives. We promote climate-smart agriculture, reforestation, land restoration, and community-based adaptation to combat desertification and land degradation. By strengthening local leadership, enhancing digital and economic literacy, and advocating for inclusive policies, we contribute to the UNCCD process and the SDGs.
SAP-Nepal, since its establishment in 1985, works to alleviate poverty through grassroots intervention in agriculture and promotion of sustainable land management. SAP-Nepal has been effective implementing of UNCCD matters in Nepal since 2004 being a part of South-Asia regional program of GM/IFAD/NGO Extended Cooperation program implementing “South Asia Initiative for the Empowerment of Women Farmers through Community Exchange and Training Program” advancing sustainable land management.
Lukenya University is a Chartered University located in Mtito- Andei, Makueni County, Kenya. Established in 2015, the university specializes in dry land studies, Pan-African studies, education, and other academic programs. Since 2023, Lukenya University has been at the forefront of environmental restoration in Mtito-Andei and the surrounding semi-arid regions. Through its ambitious tree planting project, the university is taking bold steps to reverse decades of deforestation and land degradation
Our mission is to facilitate environmental education and awareness with youth and women through outside classrooms (Outdoors Education), (Place Based Learning) workshops to learn about sources of water quality, reduce waste generation, climate change adaptation, biodiversity conservation and protection through regenerative agriculture for food security. We facilitate solid waste recycling and reuse education to prevent illegal dumping, soil pollution and removal of invasive alien vegetation.
