About the product

FAOBIB is a multilingual, on-line catalogue of documents and publications produced by FAO since 1945, books added to the library collections since 1976, and serials held in the FAO library.

The database can be searched in simple, advanced and command mode. A thesaurus mode can also be implemented which allows for navigation through AGROVOC and flagging of terms for inclusion in any query. AGROVOC is the multilingual agricultural thesaurus developed by FAO and used to index items in the database. Searches can be made by personal or corporate author, by title, conference, or subject; the database can also retrieve items by project symbol, division symbol etc. Other keys, such as the language, the publication year etc., can be used to further refine a query. Full text links are now provided for all documents which are available in electronic format.
