Secrétariat Permanent du Conseil National pour l'Environnement et le Développement Durable (SP/CONEDD)

The Permanent Secretariat of CONEDD has the following missions:

• Elaborate and submit for adoption a National Sustainable Development Policy according to the guidelines for the formulation of sectoral policies; 
• Contribute to the elaboration and adoption of a law on Sustainable Development in Burkina Faso; 
• Provide support for the development of local agendas; 
• Evaluate the consideration of the environment and the principles of sustainable development in sectoral policies; 
• Support the various ministerial departments in drawing up their sectoral policies for sustainable development;
• Finalize and disseminate Sustainable Development criteria and indicators; 
• Coordinate and monitor the development and adoption of a National Environmental Investment Plan for Sustainable Development in Burkina Faso; 
• Recovery of 4,000 hectares of degraded land under the National Partnership Program for Sustainable Land Management; 
• Finalize and disseminate a directory of good practices for sustainable land management; 
• Monitor the implementation of the 10-year plan on sustainable consumption and production patterns;
• Edit and disseminate the report on the General States of the Environment and Sustainable Development; 
• Organize the 4th CONEDD conference; 
• Organize Burkina Faso's participation in the so-called Rio + 20 land summit; 
• Launch the baseline studies for the development of the national climate change adaptation program in a programmatic framework; 
• Support efforts towards decentralization in forestry and the environment;  Establish quarterly reports on key environmental indicators of the satellite image receiving station (state of vegetation cover, campaign quality of the Environment and Sustainable Development;  Develop and submit for approval a national policy on wetland policy in Burkina Faso  undertake the review of the strategy and Burkina Faso's action plan on biodiversity in accordance with the 2011-2020 strategic Plan of the Convention on biological diversity;  Coordinate the Nagoya Protocol ratification activities on Access to genetic resources and the fair and equitable Sharing of Benefits arising from their utilization (ABS)  Coordinate activities of ratification of the African Convention on the Conservation of Nature and Natural resources;
• Launch the process for the preparation of the 5th national communication report on combating desertification; 
• Monitor and coordinate the implementation of international environmental conventions under the authority of the SP / CONEDD.
