In Decision12/COP.14, Parties requested the secretariat to propose concrete activities and measures with a clear roadmap to be included in the Gender Action Plan to provide impetus and a focus on actions relating to women and men, and girls and boys. The roadmap outlines activities to be implemented by Parties, the secretariat, the Global Mechanism and other relevant institutions, as appropriate at the national, regional and global levels. It builds on the efforts of the Parties while proposing new actions and measures that will accelerate the implementation of the Gender Action Plan. It also recognizes the need to partner with institutions at various levels to achieve these outcomes. 

In Decision 24/COP.15, Parties approved the proposed road map to guide and accelerate the implementation of the Gender Action Plan through gender-responsive and transformative approaches. The same decision encourages Parties to submit, on a voluntary basis, reports on the implementation of key national-level activities contained in the road map and requests the secretariat to compile such information on a regular basis.
