Work experience
Dr. Apisit Eiumnoh was an Associate Professor at the Department of Soil Science, Kasetsart University in Bangkok, During 1967-1983 before he joined the Asian Institute of Technology. His responsible at Kasetsart University was teaching at undergraduate and post graduate levels and conducted research, mainly in agronomy, soil science and remote sensing
His first assignment at AIT was an Associate Professor in the Regional Remote Sensing Training Center (ARRSTC). Since then, Dr. Apisit was heavily involved in teaching and supervising both master and doctoral students, outreach activities (training) and conducting research and sponsored projects. Dr. Apisit has long experiences in agricultural crops, agronomy, urban, land degradation and peri-urban agriculture. Dr. Apisit has conducted many projects on Integrated Watershed Development and Management, agriculture crops, urban vegetable gardening and environment, slope-land and soil erosion, soil and land information, land use mapping and planning and the applications of satellite remote sensing (SRS) and geographic information system (GIS). He has good experiences in integration of land resources using participatory approach and technology.
Dr. Apisit had trained more than 200 participants/trainees from the Asia and Pacific region, including the Mekong River Basin in the application of SRS and GIS for agriculture, forestry, biodiversity and land use planning. Similarly, there were more than 200 of students who completed their master or doctoral degrees. Many of these participants or students have been promoted to senior officials in their countries.
After his retirement from AIT at the end of 2002, Dr. Apisit is currently a specialist in the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (Biotec), National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) of Thailand, Faculty/Expert in NRM in AIT Chulalongkorn University.

5. Dr. Apisit was a faculty member in AIT, who taught H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn in remote sensing, soils and agriculture in 1984, Since then, Dr. Apisit actively involved in H.R.H. Princess’s Project in the South, Narathiwat province. The project employed remote sensing data to detect land use types. The project had impact to cultivation practices on paddy rice in acid sulphate and coastal soils. A project in Lopburi province, Thailand included application of remote sensing and GIS for land use planning. An evaluation of paddy rice and upland crops were conducted. In addition, Dr. Apisit was responded to prepare many documents and information for the Princess. Dr. Apisit accompanied H.R.H. Princess in many occasions in the country and abroad including P.R. China, Mongolia, England, Canada-Northwest Territory. Dr. Apisit also involved in the King’s initiative projects like Pru to Daeng in Narathiwat province, Nong Song Hong in Khon Kaen province and Prom Piram in Phitsanulok province and more. Dr. Apisit was a member in several Committees to prepare and edit many books to celebrate the Royal Family.
