Work experience
Aug.1996--Aug.1999: Ph. D degree in Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Doctoral thesis is “On mechanism of desert algal crusts formation”. In which, natural algal crusts and artificial algal crusts in greenhouse and field were studied on levels of ecology, eco-physiology and biochemistry by means of biological, agrological, mineralogical and many statistic methods. The mechanism of desert algal crust formation was revealed deeply. A new technology of shifting sand stabilization was developed in our studies, and some patents have been applied. _x000D_
2000.1-2001.12: Guest researcher in Institute of Pharmacy, Oslo University, analyzed the structure of and physico-chemical properties of extracellular polymer in algae from desert crusts. _x000D_
2002.1-by now, professor of Institute of Hydrobiology, explored the desertification control from algal crusts and vascular plants in Qubqi Desert of Inner Mongolian. The practical application of cyanobacterial inoculation on the shifting sand dunes commenced in 2001. By October 2010, more than 4880 m2 race-ponds for algal culture have been built and about 40 km2 sand dunes had been inoculated in the Qubqi, Ulan Buh and Mu Us Deserts, Horqin (Keerqin) Sand Land and the Hulun Buir Sand Land
