Work experience
As an arid lands geoecologist and remote sensing specialist, I have over 30 years experience as a research scientist in arid and semi-arid areas of the U.S. and other countries. I have focused on issues connected with desertification, with a recent emphasis on model development for alternative futures assessments. In this connection, I am involved in developing techniques for integrating environmental and socio-cultural data and assisting communities, managers and policy makers to maintain sustainability and preserve biodiversity._x000D_
I have been involved in numerous projects centered on land degradation, condition and capability assessment, and vegetation and habitat mapping. Currently I am Principal Investigator for the following projects, both of which involve ecological assessment through remote sensing and ground-based observations, and the application of GIS and remote sensing technologies:_x000D_
