Work experience
Dr. Parra is a Peruvian biologist with research experience in biodiversity assessment, especially regarding vegetation ecology, with expertise in the ethnobiological study of in situ conservation of plant genetic resources across tropical agro-ecosystems, including mountain ecosystems, and arid coastal ecosystems, as well as expertise in genetic studies directed to identify diversity centers and spatial distribution of genetic resources of cultural and economic importance. Dr. Parra worked in the In situ Conservation of native crop and their wild relatives Project in Perú between 2001-2005 as Assistant Researcher, investigating about wild relatives of native’s crop in a site in Andean region. Now Visiting Professor in Applied Ecology Postgraduate Program at Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina, and coordinator of Tropical Dry Forest Project with Fundacion para el Desarrollo Agrario and Small Grant Program of Global Environmental Found.
