Work experience
I started my career with Transnet Capital Projects in Durban where I worked with specialists in a wide variety of disciplines – soil science, geologists, fauna and flora specialists, project managers, EAP’s, risk management specialists and procurement specialists to name a few – all of the work experience gained with Transnet was on high profile, critical path projects with large potential impacts such as the Durban Harbour expansion, the Durban Dig out Port, Overall tunnel expansion etc.
After Transnet, I gained my Master’s degree in Environmental Science form the North-West University. The title of my dissertation was – The evaluation of five coated and non - coated grass species for the rehabilitation of gold and platinum mine tailings in South Africa. During this time I worked with nine managers, rehabilitation specialists and top ecologists (Prof Klaus Kellner), I also worked as an Ecologist and Project Manager for the North-West University in collaboration with the Department of Environmental Affairs to establish remediation and restoration activities for bush encroached areas in North-West, Limpopo and Northern Cape provinces. I am currently employed by Sebata Environmental Science – a mine rehabilitation and specialized fertilizer production company. Our current focus is the use of microbes for natural rehabilitation in extremely contaminated and historically difficult rehabilitation sites. We work with large mining houses such as Anglo American, De Beers, Petra, Impala, Sibanye and many more. I also work with the production and sales, to the agricultural sector, of specialized fertilizer products and act as Project manager.
