Work experience
My experience concerns spatial and interdisciplinary approach applied in the context of desertification, and support to the decision processes through the development of methods to integrate social aspects in observation systems. In particular, I developed a local environmental information system (SIEL) and contributed to its implementation on agro-pastoral areas in Africa. Using a generic approach and appropriate environmental models, it allows to assess the intensity of land degradation risk (past, current and future), relatively to the local human pressure and biophysical characteristics. This intensity differs in time and space depending on the level and spatial distribution of human and biophysical causes._x000D_
I collaborate with scientific partners and institutions in charge of ROSELT observatories in the circum Saharan zone, mainly in Mediterranean area (Tunisia) and Western Africa (Niger); similar activities initiated in Brazil.
