Planning, GIS mapping, implementation and monitoring of restoration projects across South Africa,
including; donga rehabilitation with stone packing and/or re-vegetation; invasive alien plant removal
both physical and with herbicide; indigenous tree planting; plant propagation techniques
Working with impoverished communities, particularly women, to collect seeds of indigenous plants to
propagate and grow for use in restoration initiatives, focusing on species that communities use for
wood, muthi, food etc.
Key involvement in developing an ecological monitoring framework for restoration/rehabilitation
projects across RSA; hosted an international and local workshop determining effective indicators
to monitor.
