María Angélica Fernández García is an environmental engineer at the El Bosque University in Bogotá, Colombia; she is a specialist in Environmental Education and Management. She has over seven years of professional experience in research and management of soil degraded by erosion, salinization and desertification and sustainable soil management. María Angelica was part of the technical team for the formulation of the Policy for the Sustainable Management of Soils, in the preparation of the National Study of erosion and in the Protocols for the identification and evaluation of salinization and desertification. She has worked in entities such as the Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies - IDEAM, has led the issue of soils in the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development of Colombia and is currently representative of the Latin American region in the Bureau of Science Committee and Technology of the UNCCD
