Jose Antonio Marengo

Senior Scientist and General Coordinator of Research and Development at the National Center for Monitoring and Early Warning of Natural Disasters (CEMADEN). He is climatologist with experience in surface hydrology, climate extremes, drought and desertification, climate change, disaster risk reduction, early warning systems. Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, Academy of Sciences of the State of São Paulo, The World Academy of Sciences TWAS. Member of the Brazilian Climate Change Network (Rede Clima) and the Brazilian Panel on Climate Change. Associate Editor, International Journal of Climatology, Annals of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences. Professor of the INPE Graduate Program and Professor of the UNESP Graduate Program. Adjunct Professor of International Studies at Korea University. LA, CLA and RE of the IPCC TAR, AR4, AR5 SREX, SR1.5C and AR6. He was a consultant to the Brazilian Government for the impacts, vulnerability and adaptation of Brazil's Fourth National Communication to the UNFCCC and is currently collaborating in the preparation of the Brazilian National Adaptation Plan (Plano CLIMA) and Brazil's Fifth National Communication to the UNFCCC.
