Prof. Dr. Azize Ayol is a Professor of Environmental Engineering and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Dokuz Eylul University, Türkiye. Her research and professional experience focus on water and wastewater treatment technologies, sludge management, resource recovery, renewable energy systems, and circular economy approaches. She has extensive experience in international and European research projects addressing sustainable environmental technologies, waste-to-energy systems, and environmental impact assessment. Prof. Ayol’s expertise includes the evaluation and optimisation of advanced treatment technologies, the valorisation of waste streams, and the assessment of environmental performance using tools such as Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). Her research contributes to the development of science-based solutions that support climate resilience, sustainable water management, and environmentally sound resource use, particularly in water-stressed and semi-arid regions. Through collaboration with international research institutions, public authorities, and industry partners, she contributes to interdisciplinary efforts to promote circular economy transitions, sustainable infrastructure, and climate adaptation strategies relevant to regions vulnerable to land degradation and drought.
