Creates awareness and educates on United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) policy control of desertification. Promotes the mobilization of rural youth and women for tree-planting activities with the aim of reducing land degradation. Supports sustainable land use, soil and water management and livelihoods in the drylands through field projects. Undertakes sustainable _x000D_ agriculture practices (e.g. agroforestry, cover-cropping and organic farming to improve soil fertility and agricultural productivity, and reduce soil erosion). Conducts research to assemble information on indigenous knowledge about the uses of dryland trees and herbs for food, medicine and income-generating processes for controlling desertification impacts.
