Focuses on the regions prone to drought in Eastern Europe, Mongolia and the Islamic Republic of Iran. Performs fundamental scientific research on carbon sequestration. Establishes and maintains networks with governmental, non-governmental, scientific and educational institutions. Implements projects that protect ecosystems and gain economic benefit for target groups at the same time.
