Limiting Vehicle Access/Speed
Limiting vehicle access/speed can significantly reduce dust emissions. This relatively simple, low-cost practice can be implemented on industrial and construction sites, as well as in natural areas vulnerable to wind erosion. The effects are immediately observable, particularly in dry conditions, although it may affect operational workflows. While entirely prohibiting vehicle access is more effective, reducing vehicle speeds can serve as a practical mitigation strategy when access is necessary. Monitoring and enforcement measures depend on whether the land is publicly or privately owned. For example, on public land and in nature conservation areas, due consideration must be given to off-road vehicle traffic, as this can significantly disturb deserts, coastal dunes, and playas.
