Description

Department of meteorological forecasts - a combination of experience and youth - is the main operational and production unit of the Center for analysis, forecasting of weather conditions and hydrometeorological support of the Ukrainian hydrometeorological center. .Among us and and it has always been so, there are three generations of forecasters: with experience from 35 to 5 years and very young specialists studying at the graduate courses at the Kyiv Taras Shevchenko University (alma mater of most of our forecasters) or just graduated from Odessa Environmental University.

We are lucky enough to have chosen an interesting and exciting, but also complex and demanding profession. As part of the large family of meteorologists united by the World Meteorological Organization, we have to ensure the resilience of the population, governments and industries to weather changes, natural disasters and hazardous weather phenomena:

  • We provide a round-the-clock monitoring weather forecasts in Ukraine
  • We regularly make up weather forecasts for 1-10 days and season predictions and warnings about the levels of pollution,
  • We quickly draw up warnings about the threat of dangerous weather and natural disasters in the country and the Black and Azov seas within our responsibility,
  • We also perform quality control of forecasts and warnings
  • We make monthly and annual surveys of weather conditions.

   This amount of work is carried out through a national network of observations (meteorological and aerological stations), satellite and radar data, the mutual exchange of information with national and international meteorological centers of Members of WMO and through the introduction of modern technologies.
