Work experience
I have participated as a PI and co-PI in several research projects involving extensive fieldwork for ground verification of remotely sensed imagery, as well as for the application of anthropological surveys. These surveys. These surveys were designed to collect data regarding social and economic issues of rural households living in the semi-arid region of Chile, usually affected by severe dorughts. On the other hand, satellite imagery has been utilized to dtermine land use change patterns, and to determine the intensity of degradation (i.e. vegetation cover loss). Furthermore, fieldwork has been designed to map vulnerability of the rural population to drought, and to evaluate the potential use of seasonal climate forecasts, as a means to reduce vulnerability. Data analysis has included utilization of image processing and mapping softwares, as well as statifistical packages.
